In the premiere of The L Word, she makes her first appearance getting off an airplane in L.A. where this show takes place and it is discovered that she just moved back. Even though Sarah Shahi expressed some interest in reprising her role of Carmen for season 1, creator Marja-Lewis Ryan revealed in an interview that she doesn't see it happening because a point of contention for Latinx fans of the original show was that Shahi isn't Latina.
