The final part of my Avro Manchester build, converting the Airfix 1/72 scale Lancaster BII into the Manchester using the Blackbird Models resin conversion set. I really enjoyed building this - the quality of the resin was fantastic and made life a lot easier.
I also used the @WingleaderFilms Avro Manchester in RAF Service book extensively - it is a fantastic reference resource (as are their other books that I own).
The Avro Manchester was a twin-engined bomber that, largely due to its Vulture engines, was considered a failure. It is sometimes said that its most significant claim to fame is that it gave birth to the four-engined Lancaster. Nevertheless, the Manchester and its crews deserve their place in the annals of Bomber Command, and I'm really glad I had a chance to build this kit. My model represents Manchester L7453 EA-T from 49 Squadron at RAF Scampton in June 1942. This Manchester was ultimately written off the following year following a wheels-up landing.
