Robert Downey Sr. was an American filmmaker, actor, and writer, best known for his work in the independent film industry. Some of his notable works include Putney Swope (1969) and "Greaser's Palace" (1972). He was also the father of actor Robert Downey Jr. who is well-known for his roles in films like the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Iron Man series.
