Mary Alice Smith (December 3, 1936 – July 27, 2022) professionally known as Mary Alice was a film, television, and stage actress, best known for her roles as Leticia "Lettie" Bostic in the sitcom "A Different World" (1987–1989). She also starred in August Wilson's stage play "Fences" and in the 1984 film "Beat Street," among many other theater, television and film roles.
