On the Virgin of Almudena feast in Madrid, Spain, thousands of faithful participated in a procession on 9 November 2024. The Virgin of Almudena (Virgen de la Almudena) is a medieval statue of the Virgin Mary and the patroness of Madrid. The Cathedral of Madrid is dedicated to her, and 9 November is a public holiday in the city. It is believed that the statue was brought from the Holy Land in 38 A.D. by Santiago, the apostle and brother of John, and is considered holy with supernatural properties.
