The body language of the Shaka sign is really meant as something friendly between friends, family and even strangers. The Shaka is supposed to show aloha or love. This gesture is either completed with the right or the left hand and happens when the pinkie and thumb are extended out and the middle 3 fingers are folded over. People use this gesture to say thank you, as a greeting and as a way to show love. It is said that this signal is based off of a man named Hamana Kalili. Another expression for this sign is hang lose. You can learn how to interpret body language over time through the use of baselining what people do. If you really want to learn to understand body language you need to be patient.
