In this episode we continue on from the exit of Hobatere Lodge. We have a short 4km trip to the Galton Gate entrance to Etosha National Park, then 120km within the park to our overnight stop at Olifanstrus Camp. On the way we will stop at waterholes to see what we can see. Etosha is up there in reputation with Kruger National Park in South Africa and tha Masai Mara in Kenya, but what is reputation? I want to see wildlife. If the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda was any indication the chances are good. We buy our park passes at the park entrance. The place costs money to run so that has to be covered. Not wildly expensive. We get checked for drones which might sound weird but poachers use them to locate Rhinos so they are limited in Namibia and not permitted in Etosha at all. Then we head off with positive expectations but not knowing what we will see. Overall it's going to take us three days to cross the park from east to west. It's about 300km although we probably drove an extra 150 or 200km down all the tracks to the water holes and viewpoints and we still saw only about half of them. I've allowed an extra day if we need it, so this is the first of a couple of episodes that focus on Etosha. I hope you enjoy them.
