Hezbollah Chief Naim Qassem on August 15 accused Lebanon's government of "handing" the country to Israel by pushing for the group's disarmament. Qassem warned that the government’s bid to disarm the group by the end of 2025 could lead Lebanon to “civil war.” Meanwhile, Israel’s far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir reportedly visited the cell of prominent Palestinian convict Marwan Barghouti and was allegedly "taunting" him. A “key terrorist” in Hamas’s Rafah Brigade was killed in an airstrike in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis on August 9, the Israeli military announced.
