I tried to demo the new Cochlear BAHA 6 Max. However, my abutment infection prevented me from trialing the new hearing device. I explain why.
My abutment is often infected and irritated. I use a thinner abutment profile from the early-2000s. It doesn't have a coating around it to prevent skin overgrowth. Due to the thin profile, skin often grows around and over it. To stop this from happening, my General Practitioner recommended me to put on Fucidin Cream, an over the counter topical antibiotic cream. In the near future, I'll make an appointment to see an Ear Nose Throat specialist to treat this ongoing irritation.
